Engineering Mechanics of Cell and Tissue Morphogenesis 2022

Symposium bannar

  • Date:9:00 am - 5:30 pm (JST), Saturday, June 4, 2022 (1day)
    * The day after the 55th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Developmental Biologists, May 31 - June 3, 2022, Kanazawa
  • Language:English
  • Hybrid format
    - Onsite: N411 Main Conference Room, NanoLSI, Kanazawa University
    - Online: Zoom link will be provided

OBJECTIVES

The principal goal of this workshop is to explore cutting-edge strategies in which multi-scale morphogenesis across cells, tissues, organs to organisms is controlled by engineering approaches. This workshop offers an opportunity to bring together world scientists from wide-ranging fields, including cell and developmental biology, biomaterial engineering, and theoretical biology. We hope to generate a positive environment for discussing the latest works and cultivating possible future collaborations.
  • Mechanics in cell and tissue morphogenesis
  • Advances in biomaterials aimed at manipulating environment
  • Theoretical analysis of physics in morphogenesis

MEETING

This workshop is aimed at stimulating active interactions among scientists in the bioengineering and mechanobiology community. There will be a core ‘onsite’ workshop with live talks and active discussion (anticipated number of onsite participants will be up to 60). All talks will be live-streamed on the Zoom workshop platform. Ample time will be provided to promote interactions with all speakers and participants. With due consideration of local COVID restrictions, we will inform all participants for whether or not it will be held onsite by 7th May, 2022.

Organizers

Fumio Motegi, Institute for Genetic Medicine, Hokkaido University
Satoru Okuda, WPI Nano Life Science Institute, Kanazawa University

Host

This workshop is supported by WPI Nano Life Science Institute, Kanazawa University and co-sponsored by Japanese Society of Developmental Biology, the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineer, the Biophysical Society of Japan, and RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research.
And financially supported by THE KAJIMA FOUNDATION and Kato Memorial Bioscience Foundation.
